A comprehensive digital platform for antidepressant education, empowering individuals with knowledge and resources to make informed decisions about their mental health journey.
In collaboration with expert designers Emily Oberg and Usman Khan, we created UpFront—an interactive website dedicated to helping young adults explore their mental health options.
Focused on education and guidance, UpFront provides transparent, accessible information about antidepressants, empowering users to make informed decisions about their well-being.
As antidepressant use has grown, so has the overwhelming amount of information available. With so many resources out there, it’s hard to know what’s trustworthy. UpFront aims to provide clear, reliable information about antidepressants for those considering, currently using, or thinking of stopping them.
Inspired by personal experiences and the need for better education, our team created UpFront to clear up misconceptions and support individuals and their loved ones in making informed decisions.
In developing UpFront's branding, we drew inspiration from mental health resources and brands, focusing on colors, fonts, and illustration styles to shape our identity. Our logo, refined through several iterations, reflects our friendly, straightforward approach with positive imagery like a stethoscope, pill, and smiley face. We selected pastel blues for a clinical touch, complemented by vibrant pinks for energy. This aesthetic extended to our font choices Dosis and Visby, ensuring readability and accessibility for all.
Through our interviews, we identified common challenges, a lack of information, unpredictable experiences, and poor collaboration between patients and providers. These insights shaped the key goals of our website, to provide accessible, well-organized content with a positive tone and options for users.
In developing the site, we focused on addressing these issues, ensuring each feature directly tackled a challenge from our research. Every detail was included purposefully, with no information left out.
Creating an exhibition space that truly represented our brand, UpFront, was a meticulous process. We began by sketching out various ideas, exploring different concepts until we found one that resonated with our vision. Each sketch was a step towards translating our brand's essence into a physical space, ensuring that every detail reflected our values and personality. From the layout to the colors and materials used, every decision was made with the intention of creating an immersive experience that aligned with the ethos of UpFront.
We incorporated elements such as a monitor display looping our website prototype to showcase our brand and what we represent. Additionally, we included a shelf for publications and takeaway stickers and business cards, further enhancing the interactive and informative nature of the space.
